von Dran IDEA Awards Image

Bay Area alumni judge von Dran IDEA Awards competition

Three Bay Area alumni served as judges for the 2013 Raymond von Dran IDEA Awards competition held on the SU campus in April. Michael Bodenstab ’97, Helen Howard Harmon ’62, and Robert Goldman ’81 were among the 23 judges for the competition, which is one of the largest funding competitions for college and university student entrepreneurs in New York State. SF venture capitalist found his calling at SU

San Francisco Regional Council member Peter Hébert ’99 found his true calling after taking an entrepreneurship course at SU’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management. “Something just clicked,” says Hébert, co-founder and managing partner of Lux Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm managing approximately $350 million. While still an undergraduate, he founded Future Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs, a group that included students from a variety of colleges and majors who were interested in entrepreneurship. Meet Lara Moock ’16

Born in Germany of Egyptian heritage, Lara Moock ’16 attended a French high school in Munich, and was looking for an international college experience. She found it at Syracuse University. “My first day of class in studio, I highly enjoyed meeting people from around the globe,” says Moock, a junior majoring in architecture. “It is great to be surrounded by so many different cultures.” Read more.
