The trip gives students a firsthand look at companies, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists, and their way of life (both personal and professional) in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. Read more.

Meet Erika D. Rodriguez G’08, G’12

For Erika D. Rodriguez, Ph.D., it really is rocket science. The only Hispanic female engineer working on a critical task at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, Rodriguez has a job that builds on her Syracuse University studies. She was recently named one of Silicon Valley Business Journal’s 40 under 40 emerging leaders. Read more.


Darrow receives Pete Wilson Scholarship

Max Darrow ’16, a native of Menlo Park, California, and a senior broadcast and digital journalism major in the Newhouse School, is the recipient of the 2015 Pete Wilson Scholarship. The scholarship, given by the Radio Television Digital News Association, was established in 2007 to honor the late Pete Wilson, a San Francisco television and radio journalist. Read more.


Tami Newcombe ’88 Presents “Engineering Meets Business” Lecture

The South Bay resident and vice president of sales for Cisco recently returned to campus to share her experiences  establishing a successful career in tech. She painted a picture of her path from an undergraduate athlete to a vice president, and gave advice that can be applied to a multitude of career choices. Read more.


Ballard to lead alumni engagement

Susan Ballard has been named associate vice president for alumni engagement at Syracuse University. The appointment, effective February 22, follows a comprehensive national search. Ballard's plans for her new position include meeting as many alumni as possible. "I want to listen to their memories, hear about their love for all things Orange, and learn firsthand what the Syracuse University experience meant to each of them,” she says. Read more.
