Adam Lippard ’93

Tell us briefly about your career path and where you are today.
After graduating from Newhouse with my degree in broadcast journalism, I had a decision to make. Was I going talent-side to try and become a sports broadcaster? Or, was I going into sports management? I chose the latter and it’s worked out great! I’ve only had three employers: the Orlando Magic, ultimatebid.com, and GMR Marketing.

When you look back on your life, what has your SU experience meant to you?
SU was the place where I really came into my own as a human being and fully realized the true meaning of potential. Being selected as sports director for WAER and winning the Bob Costas Scholarship my senior year really gave me the confidence that I could do anything I put my mind to.

What successes in your life (personal/professional) do you attribute to SU?
I attribute the successes I’ve had in my professional career to the experiences I had at SU, including a strong work ethic.

How did SU help you get to where you are today?
SU provided so many academic, social, and practical work experiences. It was really a microcosm for real life and taught me so many skills that have enabled me to be the person I am today.

What is your favorite memory of Syracuse University?
The 1990 Syracuse–Georgetown game at the Dome. Hoyas coach John Thompson was ejected in the first half. Billy Owens hits two free throws to send the game into OT, where the then-Orangemen win the game and the regular season Big East title.

As an alum in the SF Bay Area region, how have you enjoyed connecting with other alumni in the area?
I love to stay close with the SU community through regular networking and my work with the Regional Council.
